What

Big Blue is a privately owned real estate holding company based in Madrid, Spain. It was created in the vortex of Spain’s real estate crisis (2013) with the goal of taking advantage of steep price malformation affecting prime assets located in leading coastal/tourist destinations in Costa del Sol and Costa de la Luz. Today it holds a diversified portfolio with over 120.000 m2 of finished and development product: residential (75%), hotel (20%) and commercial (5%).  All share the same characteristics: prime consolidated location by the sea, distinct natural environments, high end communities, and all within 15 minutes of a high-speed train station (AVE) or international airports (Malaga, Jerez, Seville). The objective is to hold a diversified and balanced portfolio both in terms of assets and client segment: high-end Spanish and foreign demand.

The business is solidly built around the execution of a disciplined investment style: opportunistic asset selection, detailed understanding of local idiosyncrasies and urban regulatory frameworks, strong focus on evaluating real client demand, streamlined decision making processes and complete alignment with the investor. This has allowed us to create an attractive portfolio with an acquisition at basis cost as a result of market pricing inefficiencies (bankruptcies, repossessions, etc.). Value is unlocked by a highly experienced local team assigned to the professional management of each asset. The local leaders are responsible for maintaining and enhancing solid relationships with the community, authorities and relevant stakeholders. We assign special value to this relationships as they are critical to optimizing value creation.

The company operates under the highest standards of ethical, environmental and social practices. The managers apply prudent and sophisticated financial and real estate know-how to optimize the value of the portfolio.

The founders and management team, all have ample experience in real estate, financial and asset management businesses. The average career and experience expands over thirty years.
